Esther Cox grew up in Canada Nova Scotia, her mother died 3 weeks after she was born, her father married twice more and moved away with his third wife leaving Esther to be raised by her grandmother. Once her grandmother passed away she went to live in a small house with her eldest sister and husband, his brother, their children and two of her other siblings.
