Thelma Ankney - Co Founder /Case Manager

Like many other paranormal investigators, I became interested in the paranormal world a young age. I was about 8 years old when my family and I moved into a house that had a strange “visitor” come and go. At first we didn’t pay attention to it but then my 2 younger sisters and I started to take notice of strange things going on.

Many nights I would get up to go to the bathroom and I would see a white silhouette of a man standing by the bedroom door. Thinking it was my dad, I would get up and once I’d get to the door there would be no one there. Other unexplained occurrences would be hearing our names being called; whistling and even the couch would creak as if someone had sat down next to us. This is what sparked my interest and began to research the paranormal. Since then I’ve read and researched everything from Witchcraft, UFOs to Ghosts and everything in between. In 2006 I joined a new local paranormal team for a short time and then in early 2007 I joined a more serious and dedicated team. With them I learned about the scientific and logical method to investigating the unexplained phenomena. After many investigations and experiences with that team, it made me want to pursue this field and find the answers to the unknown even more. Although I’ve always had a love for the supernatural, being part of that group made me even more passionate about trying to seek answers to the unknown. It was while I was case manager on that team that I met Noah. I had referred a few out of state cases to an Ohio team called OHPRI, which was led by Noah. In January of 2009, I moved to Ohio where I joined OHPRI for a short time but due to personal reasons, I came back to Long Island a few months later. I’ve learned and grown so much in respect to this field that I knew I wasn’t going to be able to join any team, I had to lead one.

Noah and I put together LIPRI in May of 2009. With LIPRI I hope to be able to help those being affected by the paranormal by giving them a better understanding of what may or may not be happening. If you want to contact me directly feel free to email me at thelma@lipri.org or send me a message on Facebook.
