Just let it go...
The field of the paranormal is amazing. I can never get enough of it but it is draining. No, it’s not the long hours of research, no it’s not the traveling, no it’s not the 6-10hr investigations and the review afterwards, it’s not any of that. What is draining is all the crap, all the drama, and everyone having to play paranormal police that it’s sickening. I get it, we have to protect the integrity of this field but there are ways of doing this without being complete assholes.
I used to care what others were doing that was negative in this field but then I realized that nothing I nor any of you can do to change it. There isn’t a structure to this field, just a bunch of groups doing their own thing. Who in the hell is to say what one does is any better than the other? Seriously? The bullshit in this field is just that, bullshit. Man up and take care of your own and stop worrying what others are doing. What does this do for the field? Does it further this field in anyway? No, it does not. A lot of people may think oh, by weeding out those who are a bunch of dumbasses that this field would be better. Last time I checked, this field is unproven and when it comes down to it all chances are we are all dumbasses for spending thousands of dollars to investigate dustbunnies and/or imaginations.
I agree, we should point out who are taking advantage of clients, who are frauds, and who are doing a disservice to this field, but not belittle those who don’t know any better. By this I mean groups who post photos of “orbs, streaking lights, mist, fog, blah blah blah. Think of where you were when you first started off. Chances are you were an orb chaser, chances are you got excited when you caught something in a photo that you didn’t have an answer to. All it takes is a little education and guiding these groups to possibilities without shoving this down their throat. It’s one thing if they don’t want to listen but you don’t have to be a dick about it either.
I know I may get flack for this but honestly, I do not care. Those who take offense to this or have something negative to say are probably the ones guilty of it.
So I end you with this. Instead of being harsh to others, try offering possibilities. Provide links to support your argument or otherwise point them in the right direction. If they do not take what you have to say doesn’t make it right to be a dick. Just makes you look like an ass when you force it down their throat or start belittling them. Just move on.
